In November 2015, Earl and I planned a R&R kind of weekend at Shangri-la Mactan. You see one of the many perks of having a boyfriend who works in Shangri-la is getting really good rates, and i mean REALLY good rates. 🙂
Shangri-la Mactan is just 15 mins away from Cebu airport (an hour away from Manila) with special access to the airport service road (in other words no traffic). They offer shuttle services to and from Cebu City, which is around an hour away from the resort. The ‘Shangri-la experience’ is indeed impressive, they’ll take care of everything you need sometimes even before you ask for it.
We stayed in the resort almost the whole time, there’s really no reason to leave. The resort has a lot of amenities and activities to keep you entertained. Pools, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, spa, adventure zone, water sports, snorkelling and tennis center are just a few of them. Among the many attractions the resort offers my favorite is the marine sanctuary, which they built as part of their corporate social responsibility. It felt like I was swimming in an aquarium and it was the best feeling ever! I loved how I don’t have to take a boat ride to swim with schools of fishes (clown fish, angelfish, lion fish and puffers are just some of them) and we even saw giant clams too. In fact, if you’re not in the mood to swim you can see the fishes just by merely standing where the water and sand meet. There’s one thing that we noticed though, the sand is better at the ocean wing side! haha!
