Christmas came early for my family! This year I decided to bring them to my favorite place as my early Christmas gift. It was a great opportunity for us to spend time together (and it will spare me from Christmas shopping pressure haha!). We spent a whole week in Bali and as much as I would want to stay in different areas (Ubud, Uluwatu, etc.) I thought it would not be ideal for a big group like us and so I decided to stay in Seminyak the whole time instead. With the help of our very accommodating villa manager, DesDan, we just got an english speaking driver to take us around where we wanted to go. More on that on my next post.
I found this villa on Airbnb. I was browsing through a lot of different villas and this was my top choice considering the look, location, price and security. I’ve learned that security should be my top concern in Bali as there are a lot of cases of theft (take note!). This three bedroom villa was a steal at P8,200/night and for bookings of at least one week they offer free pick up service from the airport. Less than a week before our trip however I got a message from our host, Rachel, that the pinned location on Airbnb was wrong. It turns out that the villa is not walking distance to the main strip of stores and restaurants. It was disappointing because location is one of my main considerations and though they offered me a full refund, less than a week was not enough for me look for another place. Good thing Rachel was kind enough to offer me another option where she gave me a discount on my booking and offered us a car and a driver for free.
When we got there it turns out that though the villa is not walking distance to the main strip, it wasn’t very far either. My brother and Earl got a scooter for 70,000 IDR per day (thats about P280/day) and for us girls we just used Uber and Grab to get around. Uber and grab are SO MUCH cheaper compared to the regular taxis so I suggest you download the app before you go to Bali.
The villa is lovely and nicely designed, i’ll let the pictures do the talking. We had a lot of space in the common areas and even the rooms were huge. The kitchen is well equipped so we just cooked breakfast in the morning. We were also near Nook, a good restaurant with a nice view of the rice field and there’s another mini restaurant across the villa where you can order Indonesian food and they can just deliver it to the villa.
